In the high Ribagorza, over the term of Vilaller , this shelter is located in the heart of crest and alpine land, in an area where the relief gains very quickly. The proximity of summits such as Pic d'Abellers or Pic de Comaloforno it explains its function well: not so much as a valley stop, but as a support to move along high routes, link hills and prepare ascension in a field of a more mineral character than forestry.

Support point on the journey

Refuge du Beiberri (Le Nouveau) , at 2200 meters, it fits especially in mountain hiking days and long walks where it is interesting to divide effort before entering more demanding crests or grounds. Its position relates it naturally to the passage of the HRP and with the great hiker context of Foc Carros , although it is not appropriate to interpret this as a simple or uniform access: in this area the orientation, the weather and the type of terrain can make the march much conditioned according to the chosen route.

To plan the day it is necessary to have sufficient autonomy. Invented sources are several kilometres away, so it is not wise to make the immediate availability of water in the vicinity safe. It is also an exposed location to the changing time of the high mountain, which is relevant to both those who use the shelter as the base of nearby summits and those who integrate it into a journey between valleys and cords. In this context, its main value is to serve as an intermediate reference in a mountain sector where the levels, the rock and the continuity of the itinerary weigh more than the proximity to inhabited cores.
