Mountain refuge La Pince Motte

The water is not especially at hand. In La Pince Motte at 1496 metres, the day should be raised with sufficient autonomy, because the nearest registered sources are more than 2 km away and it is not prudent to have immediate supply in the environment of the shelter.

Their interest is mainly in the direction and the logistics of passage. It is located in the municipality of Arzier-Le Muids, in the canton of Vaud, within the Jurasian relief that links forests, lomas and half-mountain roads near the border axis between Switzerland and France. In this strip, where the reading of the map and the crosses becomes important, the shelter works as a useful reference to place a retreat, divide a journey or reorganize the march if time or forces change.

The area is crossed by long continuity routes such as E4 and GR 5 Jura as well as regional and local tours such as the Haute Bienne Tour or the Sentier du Coq. This makes it an interesting point of support for link hiking, not so much as a basis for concrete ascension, as there are no data from nearby summits that allow you to read it in that key. Its role fits best in transit days, navigation between different roads or open stages within the Jura vaudois.

The terrain of this part of Vaud, close to sectors such as Saint-Cergue and the corridor to Bois@-@ d'Amont, often demands attention to the continuity of the itinerary rather than to the pure technical difficulty. In days of fog, rain or changing visibility, such a shelter can serve as a clear reference on the map to recalculate distances, value a return on another side or avoid unnecessarily lengthening the approach.

As in shelters with limited operational information, it is reasonable not to give for alleged services or resources in the vicinity. For routes around this area, especially if long sections of the Jura are linked, it is appropriate to leave with sufficient water, updated mapping and an escape plan consistent with the weather and actual length of the day.
