At 1474 meters, in the surroundings of Arzier-Le Muids, within Vaud, it works mainly as a useful point of reference for orientation in the upper Swiss Jura, near small elevations such as Mont Sâla or Mont Pelé, more valid as map milestones than as alpine targets.
The Cabane des électriciens (ou Creux Devant) may be of interest to anyone who plans a long stage or wants to fail to travel in this border area between local and more continuous routes. In their surroundings they pass the E4 and GR 5 Jura , in addition to tours such as Sentier du Coq, L'Archette-Col du Vuarne or the Tour de la Haute Bienne. This combination places it on a transit ground, where it is appropriate to make clear the chosen route and not to be trusted with the apparent softness of the relief.
In terms of navigation, the value of the shelter is less at altitude than in its position within a network of roads. It can be used to recalibrate the day, decide a link between routes or adjust effort if time changes, something important in cords and lomas where orientation depends a lot on crosses, tracks and visibility.
Water management deserves attention. The nearest source is just over 2 km away, so it is not appropriate to take for granted an immediate supply next to the shelter. If it arises as free shelter or pass support, it is reasonable to leave with sufficient autonomy and check before the route both the state of access and the actual availability of water in the area.
By its location, it is not understood as an isolated high mountain destination as a practical support on a journey through the crest and mountains of the Jura vaudois, where planning depends on linking well roads, measuring the march and providing basic resources with margin.
