The Cabane Pleta de Salteguet refuge (refugi de la pleta de saltèguet, n-260 eix pirinenc, alp, cerdaña, gerona, cataluña, 17536, españa) is a classic meeting point for mountaineers and hikers. At 1600 meters, its coordinates 42.357, 1.966 mark the end of a stage or the beginning of a new adventure.

The Cabane Peta de Salteguet , in the term of Alp and within the environment of the Cerdanya, it moves in an average level of 1600 meters that does not yet correspond to the most severe high mountain, but to a strip where the relief begins to force to manage the level, orientation of the terrain and changes in rhythm. Its position fits into the pirenaic slope linked to the La Molina area, in a transition area between forest, lomas and rounded elevations that may appear accessible on the map and require more record than expected on the ground.
This combination makes the shelter more meaningful as an intermediate support or as a point of protection within a day than as an isolated destination. There is no data here to raise it as a clear node of signposted traverses, so it is appropriate to think of it from the logic of access: an increase that can change quite according to the chosen side, the continuity of the available path and the state of the ground. In the pirenian mountain of this height, the orientation turns influence the progression, both by the insolation and by the moisture of the soil or the possible persistence of snow in the cold season.
In the nearby environment there are reliefs like Tossal Rodó , a little more than 2 kilometers, and other levels like Pla de la Bassa , Tossal de la Pia or Cap de les Costes de l'Huguet , which help to understand the character of the place: not so much a comfortable valley bottom as a useful position to move between mountain wavelengths and gain height towards loops and secondary summits. More than to serve as an obvious basis for a great concrete ascension, it fits better in routes where it is interested to fail effort and not to concentrate all the rise and down in a single run.
In the logistics part, there is a source located about 1.5 km away, short enough to take it into account but not to have immediate water next to the shelter. That is why it is necessary to go out with reasonable autonomy and to review first the real conditions of access and the environment. It is also prudent not to take for granted obvious traces or close support: although the area of Alp and La Molina is not remote in regional terms, a free shelter of this kind continues to require simple but serious planning.
