Mountain refuge cabane d’Arre

Cabane d'Arre 2400 metres above the valley of Eaux-Bonnes It is located in a high mountain, clearly mineral environment, above the forests and very close to the reliefs that close the head of the sector of Gourette and Aubisque. The immediate environment is dominated by stony slopes, high pastures and crests open to the wind, with a sense of open and exposed mountain that changes quickly with meteorology.

Its position makes it a good point of support for mountaineers who want to move between large pirenaic itineraries. Variations and stages of the HRP and GR 10 , in addition to GR 101 and tours of Tour de la Vallée d'Ossau , so it can serve both for a long journey and for linking days between hills and neighboring valleys. It also fits well as a basis for approaching the Lac de Pouey- Laün or to propose rapid ascension to nearby summits.

From the cabin they highlight very close objectives such as the Géougue d'Arre , just half a mile in a straight line, or Pic de Ger , which raises its silhouette at about 2.6 km. The Pic des Tourettes and Pic des Taillades both very interesting for those who seek a day of crest and panoramic on the Ossau massif. The approach and the movements through this area require a discharge in mountain terrain: a gap, stony sections and careful orientation when fog enters.

Although there are several supply points in the general area, the nearest sources are more than 4 km away, so the wise thing is to arrive with sufficient reserve and review conditions before sleeping or continuing stage.
