In an ascending or crossing of the head of Ayas at 2066 meters, this shelter is well placed to break the day before gaining higher ground or to link the medium and high mountain routes of the Résy sector. The surroundings are located in the Aosta Valley, within the Ayas Valley, in an area where the roads connect slopes and hills above the cores of the bottom of the valley. From here it makes sense to travel like the Sentiero 9 da Saint- Jacques a Résy , the 8B route to Pian di Verra Inferiore or drawn as Le sorgenti del Lys and Ru Courtod, so that it can fit both a progressive approach and a link between itineraries. The nearby presence of cias such as Monte Croce or Becca di Nana reinforces its role as support in already clearly mountainous terrain, where the orientation of the day and meteorology make the effort very difficult.

Autonomy and water
