The approach to Mountain Refuge AMA Torrecerredo is well understood within the surroundings of the port of San Isidro, in the Aller council, next to the Asturian side of the Cantabria mountain range. Its position, very close to the road of the port and at a level similar to that of the base of Fuentes de Winter, makes it a simple reference to locate on map for exits of medium and high mountain in this area of divisive between Asturias and León. More than an isolated destination, it fits as a point of support for linking day paths or for failing to travel through an open terrain, exposed to the change of time and with guidance that should be carried out well if the most obvious environment is left out.

From this sector, the nearby relief gains height quickly. Pico Toneo and Pico Torres , both a little more than two kilometres in a straight line, explain well the mountain character of the shelter: not so much as a valley coat, but as a practical basis for approaching the peaks of the divisive and moving along high, hills and cords of the surroundings. They are also relatively close Peña Agujas , Pico Valmartin or Pico de Fuentes , so that its usefulness appears mainly in days aimed at linking ascension or continuing a journey through this stretch of the central cantabria mountain.

Not all respond to the same level of demand or a fixed distance, so it is appropriate to review the layout and conditions before leaving.
