Between the Collada d'Aubenç and the reliefs of the Corb

Refugi Cortiuda is mainly a useful support in long days in the sector of Peramola, in the Alto Urgell, especially if the itineraries of the environment are linked with the passage of the GR 1 from this part of Catalonia. Its location, in the camí de la colada d'Aubenç and at 967 meters of altitude, places it in a transition strip between the under-prepireaic mountain, wooded slopes and rocky highlights that gain character towards the next needles and ossalts. In this context, rather than operating as an isolated destination, it fits well as a reference of withdrawal or reorganisation of the day when time changes and it is appropriate to lose height or leave more exposed areas.

The near relief helps to understand that role. To the immediate environment there are references such as Agilla del Corb , Tossal of Robet , Cònica Rock or Tossal de Conseu , modest levels compared to the high Pyrenian mountain but sufficient to introduce rapid changes in terrain, orientation and wind exposure. In the Aubenç and Roc de Cogul saw, the mental map is clear: roads that can alternate more covered sections with rocky steps and open areas where weather is noted before. That is why it is appropriate to propose a reasonable exit and not to give for it services or immediate supply. The nearest source, the Font del Prat, is just over 3 km away, a distance that does not advise to have water without prior planning. It is also prudent to review mapping and foresight before leaving, especially if the intention is to move between routes such as the Corb, Sant Honorat or the traditional roads between Cambrils and Oliana, where a shelter at this level may be more valuable as a point of withdrawal than as a closed-stage end.
