Mountain refuge Refuge Coma de Vaca ( Manèlic)

Between HRP , the Route of the Ter and the journey of Refugees of the Torb This shelter fits better as a point of passage than an isolated destination. In the sector of Queralbs, within the scope of the headers of the Ter and the Freser, it allows to start a long day on a clearly pyrenees terrain, with changes of valley, hills and slopes that force to manage the effort and the orientation well. By 2000 meters, the atmosphere is already open mountain and weather can change quickly.

Refuge Coma de Vaca (Manèlic) is well located to link routes of journey and also to raise nearby ascension if you want to extend the stay, although in context it is more logical to understand it as support on the road. In its surroundings, they highlight peaks such as the Puig de Fontlletierte , les Borregues, the Lower Pic and the Upper Pic of the Cow or the sector of Noucreus, references that help to place the shelter in a wide relief, with transitions between loins, hills and high basins. This combination makes it possible for the same stage to change fairly depending on the extent to which it is reached or continued.

The logistics should be put forward with autonomy. No immediate sources appear next to the shelter and the nearest water references are several kilometres away, so it is not necessary to have a close recharge without checking it before. It is also wise to review foresight and the state of the itinerary, especially if the shelter is used to divide stages of the HRP or to link long routes along the Ripollès, where poor visibility or a change of time can slow the progression.
