Jungviehweide Holzschlag fits better as a step support than as a simple, isolated coat. Its position, in the surroundings of Todtnau and Todtnauberg, within the Southern Black Forest of Baden-Würtemberg, places it close to several paths of entity, including the two variants of the Westweg and other traces that link looms, forests and high areas of the massif. This closeness gives interest to those who organize long days and need an intermediate point in mountainous terrain, without relying on an immediate urban core.

Access and autonomy

At 1,040 meters of altitude, the environment does not respond to the high mountain pirenaic pattern, but it does respond to a middle mountain with continuous levels, orientation changes and weather that can tighten the march. Mountain access should be raised with margin, especially if it is reached by linking long routes or from lower levels of the valley. There is no useful data here on inside equipment, capacity or services, so it is reasonable to have complete autonomy and not base the day on unconfirmed benefits.

In water logistics, the most practical data is the presence of several sources in a relatively close radius, with one of them less than a kilometre and others about 1 to 1.3 km. However, in the mountain, it is appropriate not to be sure of its availability or flow without prior verification, especially if a long crossing or stage is proposed by cords and forest tracks. This detail can make a difference in an area where the shelter works more as tactical support than as a destination in itself.

By situation, it can also serve as a reference for moving to known reliefs of the area, with summits such as Feldberg or Schauinsland in the nearby mountain area. Rather than present it as a basis for direct ascension, its role seems to be linked to order the progression of the Black Forest trail network, to distribute effort between stages and to have a point of protection in a busy but wide mountain strip to demand good orientation.
