Mountain refuge Grange

On a long climb through the Beaufortain, or as you link days near the Cormet de Roselend, Grange appears in a very clear transition strip of the ground. He's not just talking about height. It's about changing the environment. The relief goes from more friendly slopes to a more open landscape, with a feeling of neckline, pedesta and nearby crests. This position, in the end of Beaufort and within the great mountain amphitheater surrounding Roselend, places it in an area where the mountain movement gains weight on the simple walk.

At 1981 meters, this mountain shelter is well attached in the sector that connects the Beaufortain valley with the steps towards Tarentaise. That geography explains their practical interest. It serves as a support in traverses where a concrete summit is not always sought, but orders the progression between valleys, ports and cords. At the same time, its immediate environment does have a marked alpine character: the proximity of the Aiguille du Grand Fond , of Bitch Mint or Roche Parstire draw a horizon of crest and rocky highlights that helps to understand the type of terrain in the area.

In changing conditions, weather exposure and autonomy weigh here as much as field orientation.
