Mountain refuge Fluhseehütte

Between high and open slopes

Fluhseehütte is exposed to the mountain environment from the first glance. In the term of Lenk , within the Bernese Oberland, it appears in a high strip where the relief begins to gain strength and the landscape is organized between high pastures, stony slopes and the proximity of the massif of the Wildstrubel . Its 2045 meters help to place it in a place where time changes quickly and where the orientation of the land already matters more than the simple proximity to the valley.

Its utility fits well as support for tours that go from the Iffigenalp environment to higher levels, or as an intermediate point not to go back down to the bottom of the valley. In that context, itineraries such as Iffigen Läger-Iffigenalp or the continuation towards Rawilpass- Wildstrubelhütte draw a clear mental map: from the most friendly access areas you move towards an increasingly alpine land, with the shelter running as a reference on a wide and open mountain. Nearby are summits that mark the character of the place, especially the Wildstrubel and its Mittelgipfel, both above the 3200 meters, which reinforce the feeling of being in the foreground of the high bernese mountain.

More than an isolated destination of the mountain movement, it acts as a point of withdrawal or of reorganisation of the day when time, residual snow or tiredness suggest shortening. There is a source practically next to the shelter, a useful data for planning, although in mountain it is appropriate not to depend on a single point without checking recent conditions. The weather exposure of the area and the need for sufficient autonomy, especially if it is to be considered to link higher hills or shelters in the sector, also deserve attention.
