Its position relates to the axis of access that rises from the valley and, at the same time, to the cordal of the Silvretta , a chain of three thousand with a strong high mountain character and a glacial presence in its wide environment. This double condition, between the bottom of the valley and the proximity to major summits, explains well its function: not so much as a simple isolated destination, but as support to order a long day or fit a mountain crossing.
The clearest reference in the environment is Piz Buin located within walking distance in a straight line and one of the most representative peaks of the border area between Switzerland and Austria. There are also nearby peaks such as Silvrettahn or Piz Linard, which places the cabin in a powerful relief frame, with itineraries that can gain height quickly and demand good reading of the ground. In this context, Chamonna Tuoi CAS has meaning as the basis for sharing effort, linking days or serving as an intermediate point within more continuity routes. The presence of the Via Engiadina and Zentralalpenweg 02 In the area it reinforces that idea of a useful refuge within a network of itineraries, rather than as an enclave disconnected from the passing routes.
It is appropriate to plan with autonomy. Although there are several cartographed sources in the area, the nearest one is more than 4 kilometres away, so it is not wise to have immediate water next to the shelter without first checking the real conditions. No specific equipment or services are detailed here, so the logistics must be considered with a mountain criterion: water forecast, margin for weather changes and access assessment according to the length of the chosen day. On a mountain such as that of the Eastern Grisons, the altitude of the shelter already places the activity at a level where the accumulated gap, the exposure and the continuity of the terrain weigh as much as the distance.
