Step between Beille and the Aston itineraries

Cabane Piparlan , at 1900 meters, it is in the surroundings of Aston, in the Ariège occitana, within a strip of medium and high mountain where the soft cords of the Plateau de Beille they are linked with more open lomas, hills and cubes to the econgs and shelters of the sector. It does not stand out as much for a large alpine isolation as for its position of link: it serves to understand the transition between the Beille plateau and the itineraries that go into more mountainous areas of the valley.

This role is appreciated in the routes that pass or converge nearby. The Cross of GR 10 the context of a long journey, while walking like Beille- Piparlan, the rise to the Fontargent's Ethangs or the link to the Rulhe shelter shows that this point can be used to break days or to separate from the main route if a higher variant is sought. It also appears close to modest but useful reliefs to be oriented on the ground, such as Prat Moll or Pic du Col de Gos , which help to place the cabane in a landscape of rounded loins and elevations rather than large walls.
