Intermediate pass in the surroundings of the Mont Valier

Cabane de Trapich du milieu fits well as a coat of passage within a long day through the sector of L'Artigalouse and the road of Mont Valier in the Ariège pirenaica. At 1,540 metres, it is still a forest or half-mountain, but already clearly linked to routes that gain height towards crest, lakes and summits of the environment. By situation, it makes sense both to fail a journey and to adjust the journey when time, weather or tiredness force not to follow even higher levels.

The surrounding terrain connects with very different range routes. In this area, local and more continuous routes, including the GR 10 , in addition to itineraries to the Étangs Long et Rond and circuits through the Mont Valier reserve. Rather than function as a direct ascension base, the shelter helps to read the transition between lower slopes and more open mountains, where the orientation and evolution of time weigh more on planning.

In practical terms, it should be put forward with sufficient autonomy. There is a source pointed at about 320 meters, useful data to organize the water of the day, although in mountain it is always wise to provide for alternatives and not to depend on a single point. If it is used as a shelter of orientation or access in this part of Occitania, it is important to assess above all the time margin, weather forecast and the actual objective of the day, especially if the route continues towards cords or lacustre sectors.
