In the environment of Sode, the Cabane de Cuéou It fits better as a free-of-passage shelter than as an isolated destination in itself: it is in a useful strip to link the Lugon sector to wider routes of the central Pyrenees. This reading of the map makes sense because of the proximity of trails that connect estives, ancient villages and neighbouring valleys, and also because of the indirect relationship with the Circular Val d'Aran of the GR 211 , a long-range reference in the area. At 1375 meters, the shelter is still moving in an average mountain level, but already within a land where the relief begins to order the march between loins, rails and steps to nearby summits such as Cap dera Tòra or the Malh de Cigalèra.

For those who plan a journey or a long day, their interest is in serving as logistical support within a sector with several options of link to the vallée d'Oueil, the Larboust or itineraries that seek the circus of Crabioules and peaks such as the Pic de Céciré or the Pic de Bacanère. It is not appropriate to have immediate water next to the coat: the nearest invented sources are about 3 kilometres, with the Fontaine de Laprade as a close reference, so the water autonomy must enter the planning from the exit.
