Mountain refuge Cabane de Clot Giraud

The rise to the Méolans- Revel area has a relief marked by the Ubaye river basin. In order to reach the Cabane de Clot Giraud, the mountain must overcome a constant gap that leaves the bottom of the valley to enter into more exposed aspects. At 1890 meters of altitude, the environment changes clearly, leaving the dense vegetation behind to give way to areas of pasture and canchales. This location requires careful reading of the map due to the slope changes and the orientation of the hillsides that flank the access. Its position facilitates the connection with itineraries that are directed towards the Pic de l'Augillon or the Great Séolane, allowing to fragment days of great physical hardness in the massif. However, the mountaineer must plan his stay on a strict criterion of autonomy. The absence of immediate water sources in the immediate vicinity requires sufficient supply from the lower levels of the Ubaye valley. As a mountain building in an isolated area, it is essential to check the state of the route before leaving.
