Mountain refuge Cabane de Branya

At 1795 meters, the land around the Cabane de Branya it is already moving on a level of medium-high mountain where the forest is leaving way to looms, diagrams and routes more exposed to the change of time. Its territorial reference is Les , at Val d'Aran , within the orange sector closest to the western end of the valley. This position places it in a useful strip to understand the relief between sides, link steps and rounded mountains that do not reach high pyrenian altitude, but do require reading of the terrain and orientation when the visibility gets worse.

More than as an isolated destination, this shelter fits well in a logic of journey. In their surroundings they pass itineraries that help to link long days, such as the Circular Val d'Aran GR 211 and Section 5 of the Trip of the Pyrenees by GR 10. It can also support moving towards nearby elevations such as Cap de Pèirahita or the cords of the area, without having to put it only as a summit base. In this sector, the main utility is often to divide routes, gain height from the bottom of the valley and maintain links between long-range routes.

Access should be raised on a mountain basis. The altitude is not extreme, but exposure to the wind, fog and rapid time changes in the Val d'Aran can make the day very difficult. Invented sources are not immediate to the shelter, as the nearest ones are more than 2.7 km away, so safe water should not be available in the immediate environment. For an approach or a passing night, it is reasonable to go out with sufficient autonomy, review mapping and confirm before departure the actual state of the itinerary and the coat itself.
