Mountain refuge Cabane de Alemany

Cabane de Alemany at 1,968 metres above the Mantet , is located in a sector of high Pyrenian mountain where the large herbous loins, open slopes and the circuses of glacier origin near to Ulldeter . It is a very useful place for those looking for cross-border terrain and border summits, with a sense of wide mountain and exposed rather than a closed forest. The general orientation of the terrain connects it with the natural steps between the French Conflent and the head of the Ter, in an area where it is appropriate to move with good map reading when fog enters.

As an approach, the mountain must wait for medium and high mountain itineraries, with a sustained level and sections where the wind can greatly harden the day. It is not a shelter of purely comfortable access: the surrounding terrain invites more to progression on high and hills than to a simple walk. From here, several promotions fit well into an ambitious day, especially towards the Pic de la Dona (2.7 km), Roques de la Portella (2.73 km) or Pic de Bacivers (2.83 km), while slightly longer targets such as Rock Colom , Puig de la Llosa or Piolet de Bastions are able to propose routes linked by crest and necklaces.

The cabin also works as a good point of support for traversmen: in this area variants and stages of the HRP , in addition to the great pirenaic journey of GR 10 . This coincidence of itineraries makes it a strategic place to link long days, both to the Ulldeter axis and to the reliefs that close the Mantet valley.
