At 2080 meters, Cabane Banyell (rialp planells) appears on a land already clearly pyrenees, open and exposed to time changes, above the bottom of the valley of the Serrat and in the surroundings of the Sorteny road. Its location fits well with the logic of the high Andorran mountain: high meadows, hillsides that link with hills and a clear proximity to summits such as the Pic d'Arial or Pic de la Font Blanca which help to understand the alpine character of the area. In addition, it is within the natural framework of the Sorteny area, a sector closely linked to mountain itineraries and cross-roads that seek continuity between valleys and divisions.

More than as an isolated destination, this free shelter is useful for planning a day with long routes. In its surroundings, several stages of the HRP and the GRP La volta a Andorra , so it can serve as a support for links between itineraries or as an intermediate point for sharing effort on a journey. It is appropriate to organize the exit with autonomy: the nearest registered source is more than 3 km away, so it is not wise to have immediate water next to the shelter. In a moderate-high area with mountain terrain and variable distance routes, it makes sense to anticipate changing weather, attentive orientation and sufficient margin before linking to hills, crests or the next stage.
