Water and autonomy

This shelter should be raised with a margin of self-sufficiency. In the immediate environment there are no near water points, and the located sources are several kilometres away, so the planning of the day must include sufficient water from the start or a prior check on the ground. This caution fits well with the character of Buron del Mouli , a mountain coat in the Prinsuéjols-Malbouzon sector, in Lozère, within Occitania.

At 1,180 metres, its location is more associated with the open and undulating spaces of the Aubrac than with a shelter attached to a circus or at the foot of an edge. The nearby relief, with references such as the Truc du Coucut, draws a transition mountain: lomas, high pastures, sections exposed to the wind and long displacements between support points. In this type of terrain, the overall orientation of the itinerary and the continuity of the progress weigh more than the technical difficulty.

Its usefulness appears above all as a point of passage or basic support for the trails of the area. In the surroundings they combine itineraries as the variant of the Tour des Monts d'Aubrac , the CSG 01 crossing between Aumont-Aubrac and Nasbinals, as well as routes to the cascade du Deroc or the Lac Saint-Andéol. Rather than function as a base of summits, it fits into liaison days, steps or tours in which it is interested to share effort in a large and uncompartmentalized region.

In the same context, it can be useful for people who are used to moving in half the isolated mountain, with changing meteorology and scattered services. The information available on internal equipment is limited, so it is reasonable not to have specific performance in advance and to prepare the output with a conservative criterion. In a sector where the distances between references can be extended, this mountain shelter is best understood as a functional safeguard within a prudent planning.
