This location at 1446 meters of altitude requires a careful reading of the relief, as the progression changes dramatically when leaving the vegetation coat to enter areas much more exposed to the dominant winds. The proximity of reliefs as The Barillette and Pointe de Fin Château allows to use this point to reorient the march before facing the final levels towards the most prominent summits in the area. In low-cloud days, visibility in this sector can be rapidly reduced, transforming clear paths into technical navigation sections where the knowledge of the side is decisive for the safety of the mountain.
The integration of this point into the European road map E4 and its connection to the local paths that link the Col du Vuarne with Col du Porte define their role as a logistical node in the Valdia . It is a frequent place of passage for those who travel between the Villa de la Dôle and Le Bauloz , offering an operational safeguard against sudden changes in weather that often affect the Pointe de Poêle Chaud . However, planning must be rigorous with regard to water supply, as the nearest sources are almost three kilometres away, which requires sufficient reserves to be loaded from the beginning of the day in the valley. As it is a structure linked to ancient rallies, the Arrivée de l'ancien télésiège No overnight care or equipment is available and should therefore be considered exclusively as an emergency shelter or a strategic support point to divide stages under low visibility conditions. The exposure to the wind in this cord advises extreme precautions before continuing to the top of The Department especially if the conditions on the northern side suggest atmospheric instability.
