Its location fits better as a support coat on a long day than as a destination in itself: a discreet point to guard in a wavy relief area, with modest cords and close references such as Mont Séverin or Roche de Hautepierre, both nearby elevations that help to place the shelter between lomas and small side changes.
His practical interest appears especially when looking at the route map. Close to the distance of the entity such as the Via Francigena in its French stretch towards the border, as well as the trails of the surroundings of the Loue. That is why it can make sense as a free-of-pass shelter to divide stages, cut a day or add a safe space if several local roads are linked. On the other hand, with the summits close to less than a thousand meters, their role as a base of ascension is secondary to their logistical utility in the journey.
Self-government should be planned with some attention. The registered sources are not next to the coat: the nearest ones are more than 4 km away, a distance sufficient to not have immediate water on arrival. In an exit through this area, especially if you want to sleep or extend the stage, it is reasonable to go out with enough water or confirm first where to repose on the road.
It is also interesting to decide in advance whether to use this point as a simple step or as a support to explore the environment. The network of trails allows both options, but the available data invite a prudent approach: well-measured day, clear basic navigation and sufficient autonomy not to depend on unconfirmed services in the shelter.
