On the Gresolet within the environment of the Pedraforca and the park of Cadí-Moixeró , this coat is in an area where the relief changes fast: forest in low heights, more broken slopes by gaining height and much more exposed terrain as the routes seek hills, massif turns or high steps. This transition is also seen in meteorology, with very marked changes in the environment between the bottom of the valley and the routes that leave for open terrain.

Autonomy and road decisions

At about 1240 meters, the house of the Gresolet works mainly as logistical support for medium and long distance tours, rather than as an isolated destination. Its position fits well in itineraries known as Cavalls del Vent , Volta al Cadí-Moixeró by the GR 150 or Fly to the Pedraforca , in addition to the Pedraforca 360 . It can also serve as a link to signposted day tours in the Saldes sector. In all such cases, the reading of the ground matters more than the nominal distance: it is not the same to move by track or forest path as to enter a pedestal or gain more aerial traces.

Therefore, in conservative planning, it is not appropriate to have this shelter as the only day guarantee if the forecast is unstable or if high sections of the massif are chained. The area allows to combine itineraries, but also forces to decide soon whether to follow, cut or lose height. This intermediate-point paper is useful when you want to divide stages around the Pedraforca without completely going down to more remote cores.

As for water, there is a very close source, about 150 meters, relevant data to organize the load before leaving. However, in the mountains it is appropriate to check flow and real state on the ground. If you plan to use as free shelter the reasonable thing is to maintain sufficient autonomy and not to depend on finding specific conditions upon arrival.
