Cabane du Laquet It works better as a step than a destination. At 2041 meters, in the sector of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and within the mountainous area of the Tourmalet and Néouvielle, it fits into a land of lakes, hills and high lomas where the days are usually extended more by relief than by distance. Its position approaches itineraries such as the Bouchle d'Espiadet, the return of the Lac de l'Oule, the rise to the Hourquette d'Aubert or the routes of the Lacs de Bastan , so it can be used to fail traverses or to link sectors without having to return to the valley on the same day.

The surrounding landscape has a clearly pirenaic character of medium and high mountain, with nearby references such as Le Pain de Sucre , less than a kilometre away, and summits of the environment such as the Pic d'Aygues-Cluses, the Pic de Gourget or the sector of the Col de Bastanet and the Pic de Bastan, which help to understand its usefulness as support for long routes and promotions of variable reach.
