High Beer , between the massif of Carlit and the eastern divide

In the High French Cerdaña, at 2,245 meters, Abri du Lac des Dugues is located in a very mountainous strip of the Eastern Pyrenees, close to routes of link between basins and slopes. The access runs through mountain terrain where it is necessary to maintain time margin and sufficient autonomy, especially if the coat is to be combined with nearby ascension or with a crossing step. There are invented sources in the area, but the nearest one is more than 2.5 km away, so it is not appropriate to have immediate water next to the shelter. Therefore, to assess whether it compensates for deviating from the main route, it is most reasonable to think of it as a strategic point of support in a large and high sector of the Cerdaña, useful to reorganize a stage or to approach the summits of the environment without relying on close services.
