In planning a journey through the Arensen-Marsous sector, Tue Labassa it fits mainly as support to fail a long day in the surroundings of the cabbage of the Peyre Saint- Martin. Its position in Occitania, within the scope of the Balaitus massif , places it in a clearly pirenees and border-like terrain, where the links between valleys, hills and high-route stages force to measure the effort well. At 1700 meters, it is not at the bottom of the valley or at a fully alpine level, but in a strip where time can change quickly and where a free shelter can make the difference between extending too much a stage or distributing it with more margin.

What to consider

Your interest increases if you are following the HRP or if itineraries are linked to lakes and steps of the environment, rather than as an isolated destination. In addition, the proximity of the Pic du Balaïtous and other massif summits helps to understand the type of relief that dominates the area: granite mountain, marked levels and exposed environment as soon as you gain height. It should be put forward in a conservative manner and not have external support that is not confirmed in advance. The registered sources are several kilometres away, so it's not wise to go out thinking about replenishing water by the shelter. In a route through this sector it is important to carry sufficient autonomy, to review the meteorology and to assume that the main utility of Tue Labassa is to serve as a point of step or a stage partition, not to solve the logistics of the day alone.
