Mountain refuge Cabane de la combe de Lite

The signposted routes that pass through this sector of Verfeuil as the environment of Sentier de la Sabranenque or the itinerary to les Concluses , Cabane de la combe de Lite on a more transitional terrain than high mountain. At only 230 metres of altitude, its role is not that of an alpine shelter to attack summits, but that of support in a marching area where roads, tracks and open relief of the inner Gard alternate.

The reference of the route of Lussan helps to place it in the area of Lussan and Nîmes, within Occitania, in a landscape of combe and small refolds of the land more useful to be oriented by dry valleys, crosses and continuity of path than by large mountain milestones. In this context, it can serve to fail a long day or as a basic point of protection during a walk through the area's PR, especially if local routes are linked without returning to the same point.

A prudent approach should be taken. By location and altitude, it does not look like a shelter to which all the logistics of the exit must be entrusted. If it is to be used as a support, it is better to have sufficient autonomy and not to take for granted equipment, squares or supply. Nor are there nearby summits that make it the basis of ascension, so their interest is mainly practical: rest, timely protection and continuity of the march.

As for water, the nearest source appears about 1.2 km, a reasonable distance but it is not appropriate to interpret as immediate availability next to the cabin. In hot or dry days, usually in low levels of the French south, it is worth going out with sufficient reserve and confirming on the ground both the access and the actual state of the water point.
