Mountain refuge Borie de Saint-Jean

In the field of Lendou-en-Quercy , next to the route of Saint- Jean Le Froid and in the surroundings of Lascabanes, Borie de Saint- Jean It is only 264 meters high, in a landscape very different from that of the high mountain shelters: here they dominate the rural roads, the soft undulations of the Quercy and a network of hiking itineraries that links mills, plateaux, throats and old roads. This moderate level is well guided by its character: rather than a coat linked to alpine ascension, it works as a support point in a continuous running area, where the reading of the terrain passes through tracks, small roads, wooded sections and open reliefs of Quercy Blanc.

Its practical utility is mainly in half-distance routes such as the Circuit du Moulin de Boisse, the Circuit des plateaux et des moulins, the Circuit des chemins anciens de Pern, the Circuit de Roland or that of the Gorges de Landorre, as well as more open variants in the local "hauts sommets" sector, which should be understood here as a regional and non-alpine key. The presence of one source at about 720 meters and another at just over 1.1 km may be relevant for water management during the day, although it is necessary to leave with sufficient autonomy and not to rely all planning on those points without prior verification. Since there is no useful data on indoor equipment or on the current state of the coat, it is reasonable to propose it as basic support within a journey or circular route along the Lot, especially if it is sought to divide the march, cover a long stretch or have a fixed reference in a territory of scatter and unvertical hiking.
