At 1545 meters, the landscape already moves between open slopes, stony steps and the proximity of crest that mark the character of the massif. This transition is noted in the planning: it is not the same a day of valley as a link to higher levels and more exposed terrain.
Its mountain interest is very linked to the great traverses of Corsica . It is well located to understand the links with the GR 20 both in its main layout and in the variant that passes by Monte Incudine . It also fits into the liaison between Zicavo and the Matalleva shelter, so it can serve as an intermediate reference in long days, especially when it combines marked path, orientation changes and more mineral sections.
The closeness of reliefs as Punta di Tozzarella or Mount Incudine itself strengthens this atmosphere of southern mountain corsa, less massive than other sectors of the island but clearly alpine in the reading of the land. From here, road decisions depend a lot on the goal of the day: to continue to cross, to gain height towards hills and peaks, or to link with other shelters in the sector.
In terms of logistics, the nearest registered source is about 2.38 km away, so immediate water should not be available next to the shelter. In this area, where weather and exposure change quickly as they leave the most protected slopes, it is reasonable to raise the day with autonomy and sufficient margin before entering high sections of the Incudine massif.
