Its practical role is better understood by looking at nearby routes. The presence of the Haute Traversée de Belledonne for GR 738 place this cabin in a context of crossing, not just local excursion. In this framework it can serve as a reference to break a day, reorganize the journey or seek a lower exit in case of tiredness, fog or worsening time. It is also crossed with local trails, such as the Pinsot environment or the village-to-hill routes, which reinforces its role as a link between different routes.

It is appropriate to put it forward with autonomy. There is a source about 1.8 km, reasonable but not immediate distance if you are late or with poor visibility, so it is not appropriate to take the water for granted without previewing it. Nor should moderate altitude lead to undervaluation of the ground: from this level to the crest of Belledonne the gap is considerable, and a withdrawal to the valley may be more logical than to insist up when conditions are complicated.
